Allen County Redevelopment Commission Allocation Areas

The Allen County Redevelopment Commission is in the process of designating two areas of real estate in Allen County as Allocation Areas within an Economic Development Area (EDA).  The purpose of these designations is to allow the Allen County Redevelopment to use property tax increment to assist with the development of Allen County’s first speculative industrial building project as well as financing public infrastructure improvements.

The Lafayette Center Corner EDA Plan covers an area in Allen County, Indiana in Section 17 of Lafayette Township containing 8.796 acres.  It is located on the northwest corner of Fogwell Parkway and Lafayette Center Road.  It lies west of the General Motors assembly facility and north of Stonebridge Business Park.

The Diebold Corner Allocation Area in the Dupont Diebold EDA comprises approximately 84.51 acres at the Northeast corner of Dupont and Diebold Roads.

The Allen County Redevelopment Commission will hold public hearings on June 12, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in Room 035 of Citizens Square for the purpose of hearing from persons interested in or affected by the creation of the Lafayette Center Corner Economic Development Area and Allocation Area and the Diebold Corner Allocation Area.

City of Fort Wayne Zoning Ordinance Floodplain Regulations Amendment

As a follow up to an April 2017 Community Assistance Visit by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), FEMA directed the City of Fort Wayne to update and reorganize the floodplain section of the Zoning Ordinance. DPS staff worked with staff of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and FEMA on this reorganization; the reorganized ordinance is based on the State’s Model Ordinance for Flood Hazard Areas. Both IDNR and FEMA approved the draft language for this update in March 2018. This update should bring the City’s floodplain regulations into full compliance with IDNR and FEMA requirements, and allow for the City’s continued participation in the National Flood Insurance Program.  The Fort Wayne Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed amendment as part of its May 14th hearing.
